to love

to love and be loved
is a precious thing
that so many take for granted
i never knew what i had
until it was gone
a fatal mistake
eternally repeated
an omnipotent emotion
that can bestow eternal bliss
or neverending sorrow
and can give one the strength
to make it through another day
or the ability to refuse
to suffer another minute
i've tried to forget love
but it simply isn't possible
